bfstudio-architekten has its office in Berlin, located since 1999 in the Deutsches Architekturzentrum (DAZ, German Center for Architecture) which hosts other architectural offices as well as design companies and the Bund Deutscher Architekten (BDA, German Achitects' Association).
Under the direction of Benita Braun-Feldweg and Matthias Muffert, the most comprehensive project so far has been the restoration and modernisation of the Gartenstadt Atlantic, a 1920s listed residential complex, planned and built by Rudolph Fränkel.
In the Gartenstadt Atlantic project, the practice took charge of general planning, project management and tenant assistance as well as of the development of a holistic utilisation concept regarding retail space and neighbourhood culture, demonstrating the diversified portfolio of bfstudio-architekten.
Taking into account the history, conditions and potentials of a site, we provide planning and realisation of different architectures, as well as user-specific requirements, always intimately connected to context and function. We are driven by this approach, regardless if for urban apartment buildings as in the case of the Metropolenhaus, which offers lofts and apartments for urban dwelling in Berlin’s gallery district no. 1, or for interventions in public space, such as the Space Decelerator which permits a contemplative perception of urbanity.
